What do you hope to achieve in the role if you are elected?
I am dedicated to making sure that my fellow POC LGBT+ student’s voices are heard. I want to create more resources and support systems for POC LGBT+ students, such as peer mentoring programs or mental health support groups. To build a sense of community and provide a supportive environment for POC LGBT+ students, I want to organise spaces that bring together POC LGBT+ students and allies, such as social events or support groups.
What will you bring to this role (e.g. experience, skills or qualities)?
I have held multiple leadership positions in high school in the student council that include brainstorming for and setting up events. Leading large groups of people in my school magazine and an online student publication, I have learned to work with people to delegate tasks, set realistic deadlines and multitask efficiently. When it comes to things I am passionate about, I am very hardworking, and I am very excited to bring a fresh perspective to the table. I have a keen eye for detail and the ability to look at problems in order to find innovative solutions.
Please summarise why students should vote for you.
Though UCL is a very diverse university, LGBT students, especially POC ones, struggle to fit in. I understand the unique challenges students face related to their identities, and I think I can do a good job communicating them in network events. As the POC Network’s LGBT+ representative I plan to make sure that the POC LGBT+ students feel like their concerns are being heard, and their identities are being celebrated.

What do you hope to achieve in the role if you are elected?
I wish to cultivate safer and inclusive spaces that prioritise listening, supporting and showcasing BIPOC LGBTQ+ identities around campus. I wish to establish a community whereby LGBTQ+ BIPOC may openly share experiences and concerns related to their sexual identity, racial identity, and or another marginalised identity. Secondly, I wish to campaign and raise awareness of BIPOC LGBTQ+ issues and relay support through QTIPOC-focused charities and initiatives. Lastly, I hope to provide more opportunities to queer BIPOC students to represent and celebrate all facets of their identities.
What will you bring to this role (e.g. experience, skills or qualities)?
I wish to apply my experiences and interests in academia and social justice to the role of the POC Network LGBTQ+ Student Representative. I have a strong desire to uphold equity, justice, and the collective well-being for students around campus. Moreover, I have a deep sense of integrity and steadfast commitment for social justice. I wish to combine my values with the skills I have acquired from my academic journey such as responsibility, leadership, communication, and organisation to work towards creating safe, inclusive spaces to tackle misconceptions about queer BIPOC identities.

I believe I would be an ideal fit for the role of the POC Network LGBTQ+ Student Representative as I am committed to advocating for queer BIPOC inclusion on campus. I believe it is essential to understand the diverse stories of the BIPOC LGBTQ+ population and support their need for community to speak out against the hatred around not only LGBTQ+ issues but also systemic racism and dismantling white supremacy existing in queer culture. Most importantly I wish to cultivate a community whereby BIPOC LGBTQ+ people feel honoured and valued for who they are and being their authentic selves.
