MODO Fashion Society: Head of Design & Sewing

Hey I’m Ava! I’m currently finishing the first year of History of Art BA

and I’ve been the pattern cutting and sewing specialist at MODO for

the past year. Being part of MODO society has been such an amazing

experience, especially in terms of all the work we put into the

fashion show in February. I am so proud of the work put in by

designers, models and the committee that I worked really closely

with and being able to learn from them and share ideas to create such

an incredible event. I would love the opportunity to be part of MODO next year as Head of Design and Sewing and use the knowledge I have gained from the experiences in the past few months to make the society even more social and creative.



Throughout the year I have helped to run sewing and pattern cutting

workshops (both beginner and slightly more advanced) and would love

the opportunity to do more of this next year, especially collaborating with MODO members on what type of sewing workshops they would like to

attend.



In terms of experience, I studied textiles and Art all through school

and A-Levels as well as working for a Danish textile company where I

was taught about the production of textiles, the qualities different

fabrics hold and the importance of understanding this when sewing,

dying, printing, etc.



I hope this shows you why I want to be Head of Design and Sewing

for MODO next year and that I would love the opportunity to get to know

more people as part of such an amazing society!
