Amaani Ahmad

Hi everyone,

I’m Amaani, currently in my iBSc year, and I would love to be President next year.

In my role as MedSoc Preclinical Education chair this year, I have gained a better understanding of the running of the society and learnt the organisational skills that are required to ensure smooth management of events and of course the tutorials that have supported so many students to date. I have also organised a mentoring scheme which I would like to expand to medical society to improve exposure and strengthen the support network amongst peers while increasing awareness of research and networking opportunities.

My role this year involved collaboration with other societies and speciality chairs and I think it is vital to continue to build on these connections to ensure greater publicity and growth of our events. This includes publishing a medical school-wide centralised timetable which I created and will hopefully implement on a wider scale this coming year, if elected.

I feel confident in my abilities and believe I am experienced enough to lead this society and successfully address the challenges and demands of this role. I hope to continue to diversify our events and build on the impressive work MedSoc does in education, including the conference. I am keen to continue to find new ways to increase awareness and engagement amongst students while working with the committee to ensure another successful year as a society.

Thank you for your time and I hope I have your vote!
