I have always had a passion for mahjong from a young age as it enabled me to learn Chinese in an entertaining way. I would like to encourage more people to explore the world of mahjong and discover the fun and enjoyment whilst playing it!

As Welfare Officer I aim to:

  • Ensure all the mahjong sessions are inclusive for everyone no matter how experienced you are
  • Create a fun, relaxed environment to play mahjong
  • Provide support to those who need help at learning how to play
  • Spread the happiness of mahjong!

I look forward to seeing everyone at mahjong events and your support is highly appreciated!

Joshua L Li

Hi everyone, I am Joshua and I am running for the position of Welfare officer!

I’ve always enjoyed playing mahjong every Friday evening as a fun and relaxing way to take a break from studying. My experience joining the mahjong society in my 1st year at UCL has been marvelous. Not only did I get to meet other Cantonese-speaking mahjong players, but I also get to know people from a range of backgrounds who all share the same enthusiastic in mahjong. The committee of the society are very nice and the vibe of the society is overall welcoming. To give back to the society, I’d like to put myself forward for the position of Welfare Officer of Mahjong Society.
