Anessa Jun

Hello, I’m Anessa and I aim to contribute to the LfA’s strong foundation of advocacy in legal accessibility by delivering events that connect various degrees to legal pathways and together raise commercial awareness as an events officer.

As president of the Mental Health Awareness Society in my previous school, I developed my event management skills through organised agenda setting and effective communication with external associations. By arranging interactive learning sessions and fundraisers, I identified and communicated with educators, charities, and related professionals. At UCL, I am an avid attendee of law-related events who understands that events flourish when they achieve the right balance of general career advice and specific insight on practice areas.

If elected, I will frequently organise events where alumni and speakers from various degree backgrounds share their experience on entering the legal field. I will focus on how multiple disciplines can each be an asset when shaping a legal career, by seeking relevant partnerships with academic institutions and departments. Through legal news mornings and law firm research, I also aim to deliver interactive opportunities that can advance commercial awareness within the LfA community.

Paired with my involvement and insight in event planning as well as my vision to facilitate entry in legal careers, I am a beneficial addition to the Law for All Society as an events officer.

Cathy Liu

Hi everyone! I am Cathy, and I am running for the Events Officer position at LfA this year! I want to use my rich experience in event organizing to benefit more students who have a passion for law but need guidance on where to start.

I am an enthusiastic girl with a strong passion and determination to pursue a legal career. I have rich experience in organizing significant events. On a societal level, I co-founded and organized classes, panels, and public speaking events for a non-profit program for students from disadvantaged backgrounds for more than three years. On a school level, being club founder and president of two academic clubs, I was responsible for organizing weekly discussion panels and training programs for around 100 club members for over two years.

If I am elected, I will aim to bring the following things:

-Application:

1. Frequent law-study workshops for non-law students to enrich their understanding of the law

2. More CV workshops to make non-law students more competitive

3. Frequent mock interview training and Solicitors Qualifying Examination (SQE) prep sessions

-Career Guidance:

1. More career panels and Q&A sessions with trainees and solicitors from diversified legal backgrounds (commercial law, international law, environmental law, etc.), and diverse social backgrounds

2. More social-net working events with trainees, solicitors, and barristers in renowned law firms

Thanks a lot for your consideration and

Anusha Aggarwal

Hi everyone! My name is Anusha, and I am a Politics and International Relations student, running to be one of your Law for All Events officers.

As an active member of LfA this year, and benefitting from events such as the UCLxLfA networking dinner, I realise events are a vital part of this society. As your events officer, I would continue to provide such opportunities and exposure into law.

With your vote, I strive to achieve the following;

  • Diversify the range of events. Currently, LfA offers an amazing plethora of opportunity with renowned firms including HSF and A&O. Whilst maintaining this, I also aim to increase events in more niche areas, through collaborations such as Legal Tech society and ELLS.
  • Following this, I would increase the range of networking events available, both within LfA and through collaborations with other societies.
  • As events officer, I would hold a range of events to help with the application process, including CV workshops, interview and case study prep, and insight on Watson Glaser test preparation.
  • Encourage competition within the society such as moots and case study competitions.
  • I would also organise a greater range of social events, a great way to meet the rest of the society and socialise. These would vary from pizza nights to an annual ball.

As your co-officer, I promise to be organised, and work with the team to provide you with a range of event opportunities, whilst promoting the diversity and inclusion that LfA stands for.
