K-POP Society: Treasurer

As someone who is actively following and taking part in K-pop society events, I want to continue the amazing work that the previous committee members have established in order for future generations to be more involved and express their love for K-pop culture. As a treasurer, I will help make financial decisions in order to make the most out of social events, as well as the many performance opportunities across the showcases. As a friendly, outgoing, and dedicated member of the society for the last two years, I feel confident in fulfilling this role and bringing as much joy and laughter to others within the society outside of the duties needed to be undertaken as a treasurer. 

Hi!! I’m Mariam and I’m currently second year PPE student! I’ve been in K-Pop Soc for nearly 2 years now, and I’ve always loved it. It’s by far my favourite society at UCL! I’ve decided that I want to play a bigger role in the society next year and run for committee (after all I spend nearly all my free time at kpop classes haha). 
Being the society’s treasurer will allow me to use and improve my skills in budgeting, contacting the Student union, handling finances etc. I’m always ready to learn new things too, and look forward to supporting a large part of the society’s activities, and this would be a great opportunity to be part of a team. 

As the former treasurer of K-pop Society, I have full understanding of the society financial situation and details that are important for the society to run smoothly without concerns about money. Also, I will be a third year economics student for the next committee period, I have the capability of handling financial documents & statements such as cash flow and expected budget.

Besides, during the year of working as committee, I found some nonnegligible spendings for showcases that might not come in mind first without experience of actually preparing them. Therefore, with the experiences, I am confident to manage my work as a treasurer even better for the next committee period.

In terms of leadership, I have been participating in showcase as piece leader for 2 years in a row, and also helped with the production of blooms gayodaejeon 2023 this year, being negotiable and cooperative is one of my advantage in running committee position.
