Hey, I’m Ahaan, a First Year Economics Student and I’m running for the position of Vice President of Conferences & Competitions.
My objective is straightforward – Making Investment Soc Bigger and Better.
My relevant experiences include:
- Heading a United Nations Hub, organising and planning 20+ events across 5 cities and 500+ participants
- Conducting research under a renowned economist on Global Climate Supply Chains
- Interning at a local financial brokerage firm, facilitating deals ranging up to £25,000
- Consulting clients on their strategic growth at London Strategic Consulting
As a theatre kid, I’m highly social and value networking and maintaining relationships. As your next Vice President, I’ll organise events that the members want and collaborate with different societies.
My plans as the Head -
- Stock Trading Crisis Simulation Competition for high school students to enhance their knowledge in the field of finance
- Green Investments Case Study competition in partnership with other societies and organisations
- Organising monthly Career Focused conferences from actuaries to quants with senior students and renowned professionals
As the most prominent society at UCL, I firmly believe there’s still immense scope for growth and I am thrilled to be a part of it!
I believe that I am the best fit for Conference VP 2023-24 because of my participation in last year's conference and my experience in leading groups. From my experience with the most recent conference as an organizer, I understand what areas need improvement and what the initial ideas have been to improve last year's downfalls. Moreover, within my course and high school years, I have often led groups in important assignments to great success. Therefore, I believe I have the skills and ability to lead the conference team to create the best finance conference possible in the fall of 2023.
The UCL Finance Conference has always been the flagship event of the Investment society, bringing together ambitious students with a keen interest in the finance industry. What makes the conference unique is its ability to create memorable insights for students to look back at, form new friendships around a common passion for the financial markets and offer the opportunity to hear and talk with finance leaders.
My desire to become Vice President of conference and competitions stems from the hope to improve and increase awareness of the UCL Finance Conference, making it a true occasion for students to benefit from a personal and professional level and for the society to attract new opportunities for sponsorship and collaboration with the outside.
I would love to guide and create a team of students willing to coordinate and organize the conference, making it every year a memorable place where students can connect with industry leaders. From my perspective, the conference should be an interactive and vibrant day full of activities and competitions where students can challenge themselves and their peers, while simultaneously learning about the financial world. I would want to see the conference as a true recruitment event where individuals can show their skills and curiosity to finance professionals. Having participated in the conference myself, I could use my insights and experience as a participant to improve the organization of the conference and its impact on students!??
