As a new society, I think it’s really important that we start it off right. I can promise that as your Welfare officer I will:

  1. Create a warm and welcoming environment – going to societies and meeting people shouldn’t be a stressful process!
  2. Facilitate your engagement with the society - Whether it is a social or a panel event, I want to be available for people to reach out to if they don’t want to go alone, or just want to see a recognizable and friendly face when they get there. I’ve done it before, and I want to make sure that no-one misses out on something they want to do because they’re worried about going alone.
  3. Be a voice for your concerns – whatever the issue, I want you to feel that there is someone in the society who can listen to your concerns without judgment, help resolve it and take solid action if necessary.

‘Intellectual Property’ can seem scary, but we want to start off IP soc the right way, and I will do my best to help with this and make us a success. My experiences elsewhere can help me, but no two situations are ever the same, and I will never treat them that way! I can’t wait to meet everyone and help make the society work for you!

I am currently a second year LLB Laws student with a deep interest in commercial law and technology, and Intellectual Property seems to be a great balance of the two. I would love to be the Welfare Officer this coming year to ensure that every single member of the society will have an amazing experience learning more about the field of IP from a variety of events. I will also look out for the mental health of every member and guide them to the UCL well-being services if needed. Making the IP society safe and welcoming will be my utmost priority and I will be sure to deliver on this. Thank you for reading this and I hope you will consider voting for me!
