Sarah Zhang

Hi everyone! I am Sarah, a second-year Economics and Business student. Having been an active member of the hiking club since my first year of uni, I gained a unique perspective on the operation of the club and the various hiking trips have been the highlights of my student life. What’s even better than the landscape are the people I met during the journey. I am excited to add my efforts to the hiking club by running for the role of treasurer, aiming to grow club membership and increase engagement by controlling and spending the budget effectively to provide accessible and fun experiences.

For next year, I will manage the finances of hikes, social events, and residentials, liaise with current sponsors and reach out for additional sponsors. Also, I hope to continue to develop our merchandise shop and design products such as T-shirts and canvas tote bags. It is possible to collaborate with our welfare and outreach officer to raise funds for charity with our proceeds.

From inviting panel speakers and interviewing professionals and scholars as the panel director of Oxford China Forum to planning and budgeting residential hikes with my friends and attracting a new group of people into hiking, I believe that my varied experiences have empowered me to have the communication skills and organizational skills to be a responsible member of the committee to engage both members and potential sponsors. I'll be Sarah for your vote!
