Osagumwenro Iyosayi Igiehon

Hello, my name is Osagumwenro Iyosayi Igiehon but please, call me Osa.

I'm a first year student from Nigeria, studying Politics and International relations.

I'm a big fan of the Graphic Novels and Comics Society (GNCS), first hearing of it at the welcome fair in the first term during a meaningful chat with a current member. I really like the combination of a chill vibe with cool people and the fun and creative activities we do, especially the ones based on art and design.

For these reasons I decided to apply for the position of treasurer. I believe that I am well suited for this position, due to my skills at the efficient management of limited resources to make sure we make the best use of our funds and maximise the amount of fun our members have in our society.

Thanks for considering me as your treasurer, I can't wait to see the ideas, stories, characters and comics we'll share with each other and make together.

I don't write or draw as much as I wish I did, but comics are one of my favourite things in the world, and I remember how excited I got when I found out UCL had a graphic novel and comics society.

Since getting here I’ve learned some excel functions and money management skills but most of all, I think I’d like to be a part of making sure people have somewhere to go when they want to hang out and go on comic (or non-comic) related tangents :)

Helen T Deng

Hello !! I'm a 1st year geography and economics student, I've been part of the society since the start of the year and I've been having a blast so far. Reading webcomics, manga and stories in general etc. have always been a hobby of mine (although I'm a lot worse at making them myself). On top of meeting cool people, drawing silly doodles and experiencing unhinged conversations at gncs are just really fun.

I would say I'm pretty good at keeping on top of things and planning accordingly, so I'll definitely try my best to fulfill the roles that are needed in the committee and have a bigger part in keeping the society up and running! I'm not sure if I have any notable big ambitions but it would be super cool to spread the word and have more people taking part in our activities and various shenanigans that go on.
