Geographical Society: LGBTQ+, Inclusion and Outreach Officer

When I started at UCL, the Geography Society was the main group that helped me feel comfortable in a new environment and allowed me to meet new people. The events they ran and the welcoming commitee members made a huge difference to my experience starting university; I want to be able to help provide a similar experience for others. Knowing there was a specific LGBTQ+, Inclusion and Outreach Officer contributed to the strong sense of community within the society and was very reassuring, which is why I want to take on this role. I am passionate about creating inclusive and welcoming spaces that ensure LGBTQ+ representation and promote diverse voices, and I have previous experience in leadership roles that will be beneficial. This society has been an important part of my experience at UCL so far and I want to contribute and help further the existing community that has been created.
