Artemis Babazadeh-Gitiforoz
Allow me to introduce myself. I'm Artemis, a second-year History student and active Cultures and Archives officer. If voted in again, I promise to 1) continue the newly established Culture Nights and expand the role and 2) carry on the current work being done on the archive and the TBA Alumni Database.
Culture Nights:
This year, Culture Night's have been the joy of my time here at Filmsoc. Yet, when I first started, the role didn't exist... I often feel that my understanding of a film (and nothing deep I literally just mean what's going on) is greatly limited by its cultural and contextual nuances. Culture Night's are precisely to understand such a context, to connect more deeply with a film. So, if it's getting the deeply layered jokes of a Siberian cult classic or finally knowing why those Spanish puns don't make sense (it's the translation), Culture Night's are here for you!
These night's are also a serious opportunity for collaborations. Not just between societies but members presenting films that would otherwise go under the radar.
Alumni:
As archivist I was responsible for record keeping. Knowing who did what and where (yes I saw what you did in the studio Pedro). This meant setting up an alumni database to keep record of all committee and production participants, to record history! This is to say that all Filmsoc members, past and present, can stay connected!
