Drama Soc is a society that encourages those interested in theatre to participate in groups that accept and laud all abilities and identities. But as someone who was always too nervous to get involved in shows, but wanted to get to know the Drama Soc, I found that I wanted more opportunities to socialise with everyone. So, if I am elected for Drama Soc Social Secretary, I will try my hardest to organise as many events as possible; be it pub crawls, puppy yoga, or drama club.
It will be my goal to:
- Encourage participation of social events
- Host regular (biweekly) 'Drama Club' events, where we can re-live our childhood drama lessons, exploring movement and sound in fun games, where we can reenact our year 7 days of playing wink wink murder in our tights- at a flexible time, so more people can make it
- Host at least monthly pub crawls
- Promote workshops that can improve acting skills
- Hold more events where we collaborate with other societies, e.g. Shakespeare soc, cat soc, food soc etc.
Hi! I'm Aurelia (any pronouns) and I'm a 3rd-year BASc student on a year abroad. I'm nominating myself for Social Secretary because during my time in the Drama Soc Committee (I was Treasurer in 2021/2022) I really ejoyed organizing social outings for Drama Soc members and I have many ideas of Socials I would like to implement! These include but are not limited to:
- playwatches (with discounted tickets for full drama soc members)
- other outings (cinemas, drag shows, dance shows, concerts...)
- informal play readings (for new writing or existing plays)
- visits to museums or exhibitions, especially with a drama-related focus (for example, fashion exhibitions for costume)
- helping to organize the Winter Arts Ball and/or a Drama Soc Ball
- fun seasonal socials like ice skating or picnics in Regent's park
- visits to drama libraries
- Drama Soc pub crawls, Drama Soc karaoke night at Mully's
- socials with other societies, to get to know other students involved in performance and collaborate more (for example Stage Crew, MT, FilmSoc, Dance, Music Society...)
I believe I am the right fit for this role because I know how to organize events within the Union, and I know how budgeting works within the Society. I also believe I will have sufficient time to organize these events during term-time, and I aim to organize 1 social per week in terms 1 and 2, and 1 ever 2 weeks in term 3.
