Hi everyone! I’m Ellie, a second-year law student and it would be a privilege to be your Liaison Officer!
I love how Dance Soc’s weekly classes allow dancers of all levels to experience the enjoyment and feeling of togetherness that dance entails and it would be a pleasure to organise the administrative side of this. As your Liaison Officer, I would pride myself on:
ORGANISATION
As a law student, planning is crucial in my life! I would use this to ensure that the class schedule was organised in line with teacher’s availability for it to run smoothly. It would be a joy to use these skills to produce the Class Showcase and give you the chance to show off your fantastic dance skills! Appreciating that not everything always goes to plan, I’m a problem solver by nature so would be enthusiastic in finding solutions to whatever issues emerge.
COMMUNICATION
I’m a real people person and would enjoy the opportunity to build relationships with the fabulous teachers. I would also love to hear from you to understand what exactly you want from the classes/workshops so they can be the best experience possible!
VARIETY
Having danced in the 24-Hour Show and Triple Bill, what stood out to me was the opportunity they gave to learn different styles. I would put my all into workshops that enable you to try new styles of dance in a friendly environment. I’m eager to find ways to make classes more inclusive, for example by introducing intermediate level sessions to cater for more people.
Hey, I’m Tayo, a 2nd Year Medical Student hoping to be your Liaison Officer next year! Since I started dancing as a teenager, I’ve come to really appreciate the value of having a good teacher and welcoming space, and the amazing impact it can have on a student’s progress. Therefore I would love to dedicate myself to building the learning environment of Dance Society members, all whilst fostering community and inclusivity.
Having been part of the Bloomsbury Show Production team as Marketing Co-director, I’ve been able to effectively put my organisational and communication abilities to practice in the context of our society. It involved lots of forward planning (Notion has me in clutches, ask anyone) and consistent consideration of what our audience wants and needs - skills I believe are highly valuable for this role.
My aims as Liaison Officer:
- Maintain strong professional relationships with class teachers
- Foster a class environment that is centred around community, where students have the opportunity to grow whilst feeling both supported and adequately challenged
- Introduce technique classes to complement choreography classes
- Maintain a high teaching standard for all styles
- Organise workshops that are representative of the wishes of society members
- Develop a system that is highly encouraging of and responsive to dancer feedback
- Produce an amazing class showcase where members can be proud to present their talent
Thanks for reading :) (Oh and vote for me <3)
