I started cheer during my undergrad, and I’m so glad I did! So now I want to help promote cheer and be part of the committee as the publicity officer. I have professional experience as a copywriter, blogger, and content creator, so I’m hoping I will be able to use the skills I’ve learned to help to continue to promote cheer at UCL!

Anna V Harrison-Austin

After my first year with lightning cheerleading club, which I've enjoyed so much, I would really like to undertake a bigger role within the society for next year. With fewer commitments next year, I have more time and would love to spend this working with the cheerleading society, as I am really passionate about this team.

Publicity officer I believe is a role in which I can explore my creative potential and play to my strengths. I am extremely organised and good at digital marketing; both are skills I believe are essential to this role. I would be responsive in terms of committee requests and organised as to specific posts and updates which are required. I, also, love attending so many of the events held myself, I believe I can market them digitally in a way which will increase club participation, especially through greater publicity through a number of platforms.

As publicity officer for 2023-24, I would like to grow UCL lightning's presence further on growing platforms such as tiktok, which can hopefully attract more attention and increase the awareness and understanding of what this society does. From my own personal experience, I would also aim to have greater and calcification publicity surrounding freshers events, taster sessions and try-outs, which I hope will ensure more enthusiasm and response to these events.

I believe this is a role which I can fully devote myself to and contribute to the improvement of what is already such an incredible society.

Roisin Fellowes

Hello everyone, my name is Roisin and I'm thrilled to apply for the position of publicity officer for UCL Lightning! As a first-year student studying Geography with Data Science, this has been my first year in cheer, and I've had an amazing experience in Spark. I am passionate about taking on this role to help others experience the excitement and fun of being part of London's best Cheer squad!

My key focus as publicity officer will be to promote our club to new students. I was initially inspired to try-out by our Instagram account, which conveyed the welcoming and positive atmosphere that we have at Lightning. I believe that promoting our team's progress and capturing special moments will encourage more students to join. I think we have an opportunity to reach students before they arrive, wherever in the world they're from! Another key focus will be to continue the promotion of our events outside of competitions and trainings. One of the great things about social media is that it can be used to show that our cheer community is more than our wins, but also about our other events, which help to make everyone feel involved and welcomed.

I am highly organized and would regularly update our social media accounts with relevant and up-to-date information. Moreover, my creativity and love for designing graphics would enable me to create visually appealing and engaging content. As an avid social media user, I know I can help make Cheer part of more people's lives!

Caitlin Chidiac

Joining the cheer team has been one of the best decisions I have made as a first year student. From the beginning I felt a sense of inclusivity and positivity from all members of the society. Cheerleading is something that is new to me, and I believe that over the past few months I really improved, and I can't wait to continue next year. It is for these reasons that I would love to be more involved in the society next year. In high school I managed the social media accounts of the National Honor Society and STEM club for 2 years. I was responsible in spreading information to the rest of the school about events or projects that the societies were running. Therefore, I have experience in this role and think I am well suited for it. I think that my creativity will help in creating engaging posts and my organization skills will be beneficial in ensuring that communication is successful.
