My hope is that our society is a place where people can cultivate a strong sense of well-being, peace, and happiness, to take with them in their daily lives. What's more, it's fundamentally an environment of exchange and contribution. The way I see it, we all stand to learn from one another- you might even say we're interdependent. It is for these reasons I want to help continue our marvellous society, to the best of my ability!

Arndy Tattersall

Hi everyone. I’m Arndy, a soon-to-be PhD student in the physics department.

Despite having been at UCL for a few years, I’ve only recently discovered the society. So far, it has been a wonderful experience. I’m so grateful to have met so many kind and insightful people, and I’m looking forward to learning more about myself alongside you all.

I would welcome the opportunity to give back to this community in any way I can. If elected, I would support the rest of the committee in keeping the society the warm and inclusive place that it is. I would also support the continuation of free membership to the society - we should seek to support anyone on their journey of self-discovery by removing any external barriers. I would also help organise events, such as visits to centres, dinners, museum visits, and potentially a retreat. I also think it would be interesting to do a session in a peaceful location outdoors (in the warmer months) - the different atmosphere may provide insight. I feel the society is close-knit, and I would hope that anyone will feel emboldened to propose ideas of their own.

I have previously served as my college’s sports and societies officer, at another university. I believe this has prepared me for the more administrative aspects of this role, including bookkeeping and communication with the union.

With lovingkindness, I thank you for taking the time to read this and hope you elect whoever speaks the most to your values.

Callie Yoo

It took me a long time to consider running for this position, which I ended up deciding to do just because I love this society so much!

I thought running for treasurer would be meaningful for me. I have good memories of this society and have met amazing people during my second year. So, in my third year, I want to contribute to the society by making other members – both existing and newly joined – experience the warmth and peace I'd found in this society. My personal experience and the happiness related to this society inspired me to nominate myself.

I also stand to be the treasurer for non-personal reasons. I have been closely working with the union and other societies as the students' officer, so I am aware of the administrative processes and regulations of the union. On the practical side, I believe that my experience would help maintain and run the society.

Lastly, and most importantly, I give warm hugs according to my friends. So, if you need me, I will always be there for you and support you as a committee member. Also, many people think I am currently part of the committee anyways, so I might as well be one :)

I cannot end the endless suffering of all of us, but I can cause happiness! I am excited to run this society next year with all of you, and let's make 2023-24 a wonderful year for all of us!
