Guy Fischman

For those of you who don’t know me, my name is Guy Fischman, and I am excited to be running for the position of Media and Communications.

As some of you may have seen I am very active on social media, sharing different aspects of my life visually, whether that be my baking, art, adventures in London and most frequently, rowing content. I come from a creative background with a passion for photography, videography and design. I have lots of experience creating content, using different software like photoshop, premier pro and would love to incorporate these skills into this committee role.

Through the role of media and communications officer, I’d love to continue to capture the essence of RUMSBC making creative, consistent content with a professional finish. I would use different tools to ensure this such as canva to carry on the strong visual branding of the club, scheduling apps like later to ensure consistent posts and structure, as well as ensuring there is a shared organised google drive folder for everyone to have accesss to the photos after an event.

Building a close working relationship with the other committee members of RUMSBC will ensure everyone’s hard work is shown with its corresponding media content and make sure everyone’s voices are heard. For example, working with the social secretaries we could make pols and take suggestions from other members using Instagram stories. Fundraising would also be a big part of this. I want the content to filter through the entire rowing club because everyones voices

Archie Conington

Having now rowed (and crabbed) UH Head, it's mad to think that this all started with an Instagram DM to Eti, who kindly passed me onto Nic. Therefore, it'd be lovely if I could give back to the club in the place where it all started.

It's so important that we continue to showcase the very best of RUMSBC. Whether that be our competitive achievements, or work on becoming an ever-more welcoming and inclusive bunch, the social channels are a way of showing there is truly something for everyone at RUMSBC. It's this way that we'll recruit and retain more freshers, with their subs hopefully going some way to bringing about a purchase of that dearly-needed new boat!

In terms of more concrete plans for all things Media & Communications, I think it'd be great if we make a particular effort to introduce the novice captains (for example, a short video or more in-depth profile), given that these friendly faces are the ones that 'raise' all our new members into the club. Perhaps we should also work on reviving the club's now dormant Twitter account and website.

So, if you think this sounds like a half-decent plan for one very small part of RUMSBC's very big future, I'd be beyond chuffed to have your vote. Eti's amazing work will be an incredibly tough act to follow, but then again, I suppose my photography skills have proved themselves...

Rozh Akram

RUMSBC has been an pivotal part of my experience at university so far, not only for the incredible outings and the amazing socials, but also for the incredible people from all of the years that I have met, whom which, have been incredibly kind and welcoming towards me. This has made my transition into university life and living away from my family much smoother, constantly providing me with something to do. I would be privileged if I could give back to this incredible community in any way...

I am very passionate about social media and taking pictures, and have a personal collection of pictures that I have taken at the Boat House and on the boat, which I have a story highlight for on my Instagram! (feel free to check it out on Rozh.Akram1). I strongly believe that social media is a very effective way to advertise things, through which I have convinced multiple of my friends to join the society for next year.

I would love to raise awareness about RUMSBC through social media and invite the upcoming freshers to join us, through both advertising rowing as a sport, that is open to all abilities and years, requiring no experience, and as a society that is incredibly inclusive, where we have our own socials and carry out and host other activities and social events, where everyone is welcome regardless of their rowing commitments as a sport!!

Thanks for voting for me!!
