hi friends! here’s just a few of the things I would love to do as YOUR inclusivity officer. sending love and hugs!

Making reporting easier+offering support for anyone who needs it (and those who don’t). Having been on ‘big rums’ as Welfare VP, I want to use the skills, experience and contacts with SU, Casework and ULMS I’ve picked up over the years to help us as a big happy (safe) club

Making RUMSBC the most inclusive of BCs. Hoping to be constant besties with Pres, Treas and Welfare officer to elevate the position of inclusivity officer and MOST IMPORTANTLY being a friendly face with tea and biscuits xxx

Make the boathouse a safer space. With a contact at UL, involve colleges in conversations ongoing re issues like prayer spaces, changing room culture and diversifying. I’ve already begun to make this happen!

Work for more inclusive kit. Especially with (potensh) fundraisers Bea+Anam. Comfortable and happy rowers = faster boats = more medals. What is not to love?!

More meaningful participation in pride. Don’t get me wrong, rainbow laces are sexy, but what ELSE can we do that encourages people of all different sexualities/identities to get involved? Hoping to do lots of collab w other universities/organisations (shoutout to otters!)

Better integration of novices. as a 3rd year novice, I was confusion. VPs? Feet to UCL? Mince pies? Why are seniors/novices like two separate clubs sometimes? Let’s turn into ONE CLUB with happy vibes and fewer novice dropouts early on.

RUMSBC is a family. University can be really daunting and finding a home, somewhere you fit in is really important to freshers and members alike.

I’d love to make rowing more accessible to everyone for all backgrounds. I think that that having events with lots of visibility at the start of the year is especially important.

I want to work with Nov Captains and other members of committee to organise drop-in sessions especially for first year's and newcomers so that they could easily talk to someone. To help make everything less daunting.

I would like to propose some more regular non-drinking socials. Sportsnight is so fun and being up at the Huntly every Wednesday is such an integral part of RUMSBC but circle and copious beer drinking maybe alienating to other members. I would like to build up the roster of socials we have to include more things like origami night and social pottery. We could do some creative workshops and picnics. Again I would just like to reiterate, big fan of Sportsnight, I would love to have an alternative option to see you all that’s not circuits!

I truly believe that RUMSBC is a wonderful place for everyone and i’d like to help continue to see that through to next year!
