I really enjoy being creative with graphics and feel like I could create a really great first impression online for the boat club. As a novice this year, I first decided I wanted to start rowing based on the great image presented by the boat club’s Instagram page and want to maintain that as media officer and make our presence even better.
I feel that the media on the boat club recently has slightly favoured posting pictures of the men more and whenever there are pictures of women they’re always at the end of a selection so at first glance on Instagram all you can see is men. I’m running because I want this club to show how inclusive and welcoming it is to both men and women, which I know it to be.
I would also love to implement a new tradition of putting together a yearbook of sorts over the academic year available for purchase by boat club members (particularly in their last year) to keep as a nice memory. I oversaw the sixth form year book creation at my school last year so feel like I could do a good job with this.

Kevin Cheng

Having joined the novice men squad this year, I have really enjoyed being part of the rowing community. With some experience in managing social accounts and websites, as well as making graphic designs or video editing, I would like to take part in promoting and advocating for this sports club, reaching out to more students and others about this society.

I am passionate about acting as a communication bridge between users and the boat club, monitoring our social platforms and ensuring a welcome and open environment for newcomers and for the rest of the club. It would be exciting to be able to create graphics for announcing race crews or other social events, sharing campaigns, and making posts to celebrate our achievements in competitions and document key events throughout the year. Lastly, with prior experience in journalism, I am ready to represent the club and write news stories for the student union or team UCL e-Newsletter, again to showcase the society to the broader audience and gather more public interest.

Clemmie Rudd

I am standing for Media and External Communications Officer because being a member of the Boat Club this year has really transformed my uni experience for the better ! Therefore, I would really enjoy the opportunity to be a part of the committee, and to use the social media outreach to encourage new members to join and get involved. Some of the highlights of my year so far have been sunny water sessions, racing with teammates and making great friends - and I would ensure that there is lots of publicity about these experiences on our social platforms.

I would ensure that the website is updated to show current and relevant information, and also that there are more regular posts of photos and reels on our Instagram and Facebook accounts to promote rowing events, social events and also importantly to highlight and celebrate our successes as a club. I am passionate to get more people involved in UCLBC, as I know how fun and rewarding it is to be part of such a vibrant and exciting community !
