American Football Club: Captain

Hello everyone,

I’m running for captain of the Emperors for this coming season. I think I’m the right candidate as over this past year I’ve demonstrated my commitment to this team and have honed some the leadership skills I have acquired from the army to the team. 
 

I’m proud to play with such an incredible group of people and for our great coaches, and being elected Captain would be the pinnacle of this for me. I always strive to give my all on and off the field to make our club better step by step, and my previous experience on the committee positions me really well to continue to improve the team. 
 

As your Captain, I will aim to improve communication between coaches and players to help strike the balance between being the competitive team we want and strive to be and a university sports club. Most importantly, I promise to be your voice and the first person you can turn to if you have a problem, on or off the field.

This club is already a huge part of my life, as are the people in it. Since I joined this club I've tried to contribute as a player. To take this club to the next level I want to continue to build the foundations and organizational structure. I'll be short here cuz none of y'all read the whole long paragraphs. As President some priorities structurally:

- Improved social media presence (primarily focusing on the higher quality graphics and media)

- An upgraded film set up to improve our class room sessions (and highlight reels)

- Building on efforts this year to secure a 3G/4G pitch for practices for at least Term 1

- Continued visibility within UCL and UCL Varsity

- Revamp of annual schedule, earlier full contact practices

- Greater emphasis on underclassmen in leadership roles on the team and role definition within the committee.

I have a thousand more things to put here as well as multiple plans already underway with the outgoing committee. Most of the structural planning will be done after the AGM. If anyone wants an idea of the actionable steps planned to achieve the above objectives lmk cuz there's a character limit on this.

(Disclaimer: I currently have a pending year abroad decision. If I became unable to fulfil this role as President I would nominate Hillman to replace me)
