I am standing as Aikido Club Welfare Officer because I think it is important for club members to have a point of contact for when they are experiencing difficulties. From my own experiences, knowing where to access university support services can sometimes be a challenge. Therefore, I would like to stand as the club’s Welfare Officer to be an active point of contact for fellow students who are experiencing difficulties, to recommend relevant support services, or simply listening-to and acting-on members’ recommendations for making the club a more supportive space.

I would also like to learn from the role since this is my first time standing for a club position, and I am excited about taking on the responsibility.

I would like to be Aikido Society's Welfare Officer as I have really enjoyed my first year of Aikido and have felt how welcoming this society is, especially as someone who entered with no prior experience. Through this society, I have enjoyed meeting and becoming friends with people who hold varied interests and believe that by joining, you are not only able to challenge yourself from a physical perspective, but are also given the opportunity to expand your social circle. In this role, I would love to help maintain this warm and friendly atmosphere and be someone people can reach out to if they are struggling. I would also like to be part of the committee so I can help grow the society and convey how fun Aikido is to more people!
