3D Modelling Society: President

Hi there, I’m Hasan. I’m running to be the President of 3DMS because I have been inspired by the nature of the model-building event I attended a couple of weeks ago run by the current President. The chill yet productive gunpla build session created a true sense of community, partially because we had to share one glass file between 5 people but also because of the blend of individual builds being supplemented by help and encouragement from the collective whole. 

I aim to build on that atmosphere by shifting the society towards a greater number of physical modelling-based events, including but not limited to gunpla, Warhammer and traditional modelling techniques as these have a lower skill barrier to entry compared to their digital counterparts. This should allow 3DMS to grow faster as it only takes a couple of minutes to figure out how to use a pair of modelling nippers.

I would like to use the budget to purchase a few sets of communal tools so that those who wish to try out the hobby don’t need to resort to selling their kidney from the get go. In addition, having witnessed the struggles of a beginner attempting to build a Master Grade Victory V2 as his first attempt two weeks ago, I hope to run a few workshops focused on helping those who are less experienced to gain useful skills before they attempt a 2-week build. 

However, I understand that physical modelling is not for everyone so I do pledge to alternate between physical and digital events every other week.
