A collaborative student body can really help their peers achieve outstanding career outcomes. During my time at UCL I have immensely benefited from 180 Degrees Consulting Society’s networking events, information sessions and workshops, and wish to pay it forward by helping the society grow from strength to strength. For this reason, I am running for the Welfare Officer role.
If elected as Welfare Officer, I will:
- Be the first point of contact for all members, and provide assistance regarding any individual, team or society-related issues.
- Increase member engagement through active recruiting, organising more events, and ensuring new members are onboarded with ease.
- Smoothen communication between members and the committee.
- Create a safe, collaborative and supportive environment to grow 180DC
Having launched my school’s first Economics Club, I developed strong communication, social and event-organising skills. I am ambitious, committed to the cause and receptive to others' ideas and suggestions. By working closely with the team, I hope to make your experience at 180DC more informative, exciting and memorable.
Having been an active part of 180DC since January as a consultant, I have thoroughly enjoyed being part of the society and carrying out impactful consulting work for my client. Next year, I would love to take a more active role in the running of the society at UCL as the welfare officer. Given the additional workload and stress that a 180DC project represents, this can impact students’ mental wellbeing so I believe it is essential as a welfare officer to set up systems to check in with consultants and other committee members, and for them to know there is a confidential ear they can talk to. It will also be essential to take any case of bullying or harassment very seriously. Additionally, the 180DC social with KCL was a great event and as welfare officer I would hope to organise similar events, as well as organising UCL-only events and social events where teambuilding within consulting project teams is prioritised.
I have experience working in committees both from UCL, where I have been the Communications Officer for European Horizons, and at my previous university Sciences Po where I was the Treasurer for my sports union. Both these experiences highlighted the importance of teamwork and listening to others when running a society, skills I would bring to the table at the 180DC committee.
