Welsh Society: President

I'm Lewis, I’m a fluent Welsh speaker from beautiful Neath in South Wales, and I’m studying in SSEES. I’m running for president with the vison of making Welsh Society the best, most inclusive, and most exciting society at UCL. I’ll do this by doubling down on the strategy of delivering a constant stream of great, varied, Wales centred events, while continuing to provide quality Welsh language lessons. I'll deliver the best rugby socials, Welsh films, and Welsh culture celebrations around (and so much more). Our events will be great places to make and meet up with friends regularly, be it at films, drag shows or over a pint watching the rugby. I’ll push for our society to be an inclusive and tight-knit and friendly community, where everyone is welcome, everyone has a voice, and where there's an event for everyone. I’ll also fight to maintain our great Welsh lessons, which are a cornerstone of our society. Not only this, but I’ll work towards further aligning our society with the London Welsh community, by strengthening our relationship with London Welsh Centre and other institutions; allowing us to easier interact with our fellow members of the Welsh community in London. as a member of the committee for a year already, I know how the committee works, I know how to get things done. I’ll always be here to chat and to listen to any suggestions you have for our brilliant society. Really looking forward to seeing everyone soon. Diolch o galon pawb!
