Volleyball Club: President

Hi guys! 

I am Vasara, a Y2 AMS student and your current HEVO. From running Social Sessions, to scoring and helping coach, I have immersed myself in the club and I absolutely love it! This year I am running for President of the Volleyball Club! 

Some of the things I hope to do:

Have 2 Social Sessions per week (I can see how frustrating it is to not be able to get a ticket for next week's Social, and I would love to see all you every week. I would try to communicate with the SU, or look into additional venues during the summer to ensure that all of you Social players are able to attend sessions weekly)

Have a dedicated beginners session (Social Sessions can be intimidating if you're just starting. A weekly beginners session would focus on basic volleyball skills, helping you gain confidence and improve your performance)

Return of Glow in the Dark Volleyball (An EXTREMELY fun classic)

Take care of Mixed team (They have experienced struggles with coaches and venues, I want to make sure it is not the case next year)

Weekly Themed Sports Night (All Society dressing up and having fun together!)

A Ball! (Who doesn't love a good Ball?!)

Personalised kits (Own competition jerseys for team players)

Look for Sponsors (Even more opportunities & experiences)

Weekly Non-Volleyball Socials (Bowling, pub crawls, ice-skating, beach volleyball sessions...)

A Trip abroad (Train, play AND party?)

Hi! If we have not met on the court or in Phineas, I am Camilla! I am a 3rd year medical student from Milan and I am running to be next year's President! I have been part of this club for the past three years: I was Social Secretary in my 2nd year and I am the current Women's Team Captain. UCL Volleyball for me is diverse, welcoming and fun.  I would love to become President, to continue to foster this environment that brings together students from all nationalities, undergrads and grads, into a single inclusive community. Having covered three committee positions across two different clubs, I know that being President requires great organizational skills, which I am confident I have. 

My goals are: 1) boosting the club's potential, working with the SU's staff to increase its visibility 2) weekly social events (bringing back Glow in the Dark!) 3) 2x social sessions/week, given the high demand!

What I find amazing about university societies is that they are completely student-led: as President, I would try to be as receptive as possible to feedback and ideas from the committee and the members, to keep improving and growing this club!

Very excited about 22/23!
