Squash Club: Treasurer

Hi everyone, my name is Nikhil, I’m a second-year history student and have been playing in the men’s first team for squash this year. I’ve really enjoyed playing for the club and getting involved in the socials, and would love to support and grow the society by acting as treasurer.

Why I’m a good fit:

• I have the necessary finance and business acumen, having previously worked with a music company in the summer of 2021 to improve their revenue streams and having had work experiences in the financial services. I am comfortable bookkeeping, and am prepared to handle the financial side of the society
• I have strong soft skills which is key for liaising with other club executives and for engaging with potential sponsors.  I am willing to provide the teamwork needed. My time working in a team of 6 and with the executives of marine conservation charity over 3 months to help launch a sustainable consumer product typifies how I’ve strengthened these skills
• Given the positive experience I’ve had with the club this year, I’m really keen to further grow and improve it, and not just maintain the status quo

Some things I plan on doing:

• Ensure the fair distribution of funds so that different areas of the club are not neglected
• Analyse the club’s balance sheet and aim to cut costs where feasible
• Seek and secure sponsorship deals by showcasing the value our squash club can offer

Hi, I'm Toby and I'm running for Treasurer. Despite having only taken up Squash properly for the first time at the start of the year I've quickly come to realise what a great sport it is, especially with the accessibility and group of players that are presented at UCL. My main goal as Treasurer would be to work alongside the other members of the committee to: ensure the continued smooth running of the society, provide exciting socials, and maintain the low membership costs which make it such an open society.

While I am relatively new to squash (and formally more of a badminton player, which hopefully won't lose me too many votes), It's grow to be one of my favourite things to do and I hope i can contribute to providing many others the same opportunity to enjoy the sport.
