As someone who has been an active member of the Computer Science society since its inception, I would like to stand as Treasurer to help efficiently manage the finances and maximise the number of different opportunities(events, merchandise and etc) available for the members of the society. Additionally, I have previously managed finances for events at school which involved negotiating with suppliers, a skill that will enable me to liaise efficiently between the Student Union, department(for grants) and the committee. Having realized the significant responsibilities that a treasurer holds for the computer society to thrive, I believe I have the skills that will shape the future of CSS.

Aditya Parashar

What unites all of us at UCLCSS is our passion for Computer Science. As the treasurer of UCLCSS, I am excited to work with the team in creating an all-rounded and inclusive community by acting as a bridge between the Student’s Union, Computer Science Department and UCLCSS. I will ensure long-term financial viability by responsibly managing the finances of the society in ways that strengthen our aim of creating a community of like-minded people.

I organised several events as the Head Boy of my school and spearheaded the organising committee of a fundraiser wherein an amount of £3000 was raised. These experiences helped me enhance my leadership and problem-solving skills, making me a good fit for the role of a treasurer.

The UCLCSS provided us with amazing events in the previous year, and I will continue the same using the following ideas:

  1. Cooperating with the Events department to conduct workshops where students can enhance their technical skills and social events where members will get to make valuable connections.
  2. Organising a Careers Week and inviting industry professionals for CV screening and conducting technical mock interviews for students.
  3. Raising funds through fundraising events such as releasing UCLCSS customised merchandise.

I will aim to make UCLCSS a collaborative learning space where one can find every type of support they need. If you see the future of this society as I do, vote for me!
