Uyen Nguyen

Hi everyone, my name is Uyen, I’m a first year Information Management for Business student and I’m running for the role of the Publicity Officer for UCL Lightning Cheerleading.

As a Marketing Executive for the UCL Tech Society this year, I have fulfilled my responsibilities of managing the society’s various social media accounts as well as creating contents to announce and advertise for the multiple events that were held. These experiences have not just enhanced my organisation, time management and communication skill but have also given me valuable insights into branding and publicity. Apart from that, being engaged in art extensively for the past few years has allowed me to strengthen my graphic design and creative potential, which I wish to carry forward to support the Cheerleading Club as the Publicity Officer.

It is incredibly important to me that UCL Lightning establishes and maintains a good reputation to both current and prospective members. Therefore, if elected, my main priority will be to ensure regular updates on all social media platforms as well as accurate and swift response to every message and inquiry. Moving forward, I believe that the experience I have in both marketing as well as art and design will make me a good fit for this role as I would love to contribute to the success of UCL Lightning.

Thank you all and Lightning Love xx

Danielle Okine

Hi, I'm Danielle and I would love to be your Publicity Officer next year! As a first-year Arts and Sciences student on the Level 1 Spark team, I've fallen in love with the sport since I started in September. I'm standing for this position because I want to let our talent speak for itself and build a sense of community on our social media pages.

I have marketing experience, with my current project being part of UCL Marketing Society's brand agency AMPLIO where I'm working on revamping a non-profit’s social media presence. Additionally, I’m currently improving my graphic design skills and learning about social media strategy.

However, I'm well aware that this position requires more than the technical skills I've mentioned. I believe I have the organisational and time management skills to manage the social accounts and the website as I’ve always juggled multiple commitments.

Now for the most interesting part, here are some of the ideas I have for our social media:

  • Expanding our social media use from posting about events to being a documentation of our year in cheer.
  • Unifying the aesthetic of our Instagram page.
  • Creating interactive stories for your ideas about the club and fun quizzes.

I'm excited to (hopefully!) explore my creativity by creating content that spreads our love of cheer and that we can all enjoy. As potential subjects of that content, I hope you're excited too :)
