I am standing for Competitions Vice President because, competition is a perfect event for people to learn, network, and experience the world of business. I will organize various types of tournaments, competition and events, which require the members to possess exceptional skills of negotiations, planning, teamwork, and time management in order to win. I am striving to make the opportunity in this UCL business society the one which is effective for members to write it in their CVs and able to confidently speak out in their job interviews in future. I will also communicate with multiple clients who we have connections with to understand the current status quo in the business world in different fields. Depending on that, I will organize an event/competition which is dedicated for certain field, so that when members pursue their job, the experience gained through the events by business society will be something advantage. I will also explore into different fields of business that we could step in futrher as UCL business society. Not just the major fields such as consulting or banking, we will look into multiple fields such as business development or even marketing or operating.
I would like to be Competitions Vice President because I really enjoyed competing against my peers in the Case Competitions that the Business Society hosted this year. As Competitions Vice President I would plan case competitions that would test a range of skills, and try to bring in a diverse group of guest speakers and judges. I would like to host competitions that would test investment analysis, consulting, marketing, and more. I would use my experience as a participant and winner of the competitions that the Business Society hosted this year and my experience leading the Investors Society in high school where I planned Stock Pitch Competitions to host the best events possible for the UCL Business Society.
I'm running for the post of VP of Competitions. I am now a freshman at UCL, where I serve as the Academic-Representative. I like to think of myself as a trustworthy, diligent person who would go to any length to finish a task effectively and on time. For example, in high school, I was the founder of a designer clothing online start-up, where I oversaw a wide range of responsibilities, from overseeing the website's operations to developing contacts with cloth designer producers, which required persistence. I'm making the switch to a VP role because I'm searching for a tougher challenge. This role would require me to put in a lot of effort in order to be successful, and I am certain that I am capable of doing so. Because of my present involvement in various campus activities, I am aware of this. As a former Project Leader for the UCL 180-degrees Consulting society, I worked directly with a client firm to solve their problem, which honed my attention to detail and leadership skills, which I am continuing to hone as the First-Year Academic Rep at UCL School of Management and as an FYR at UCL Consulting Society. If elected, I intend to put these traits of leadership to the best possible use. Fortunately for me, I have an easy year ahead of me, which will let me prepare for this position in terms of time. If I get elected as VP of Competitions, having this extra time will enable me to put more effort into the role and work harder on the many duties that will occur.
