Felix von Spreckelsen

Hi, I’m Felix and I’m currently a 4th year and have been a RUMSBC member since FDATR. I’ve enjoyed being on the committee for three of those years as Asst. Boatswain, Boatswain, and this year as Senior Men’s Captain. I’ve been rowing on the Tideway for a total of seven years, and I believe it’s my time as a dedicated committee member and my experience of operating with Thames clubs for these years that qualifies me to be your next President.

I have an unhealthy love of RUMSBC, with my best uni memories being made here. As a result, I always endeavour to get involved with our important issues, even if they’re outside of my position. I haven’t shied from the important tasks, like rebuilding our depleted men’s squad after covid; bringing back cohesion and unity to a group who had barely competed before this year. From my own experiences, conversations with the last three presidents and current members, my main focuses for next year would be:

  • Continuing and developing the great work of our Inclusivity Officer
  • Focus on new fundraising ideas and revisiting events like the LondonParis cycle to rebuild our finances
  • Developing a friendly and supportive atmosphere at the boathouse that as captain I've focused on and want to grow through the whole club

I would be very grateful for your vote as this club has given me so much. I would now like to give back to it by carrying on the amazing experiences I received and bring my own new ideas.

Rose Maloney

Hi everyone, my name is Rose (she/her) and I am running for President next year! This is a job I have been thinking about for some time now and having held 2 previous RUMSBC committee positions, as well as running the LGBTQ+ Medics Network this year, I am ready for the challenges it holds...

I have three main aims:

  1. To work with the Treasurer, Fundraisers and VPs Officers to buy a new boat!
  2. Work with Inclusivity Officer to continue the discussion groups and exploring how RUMSBC can become more welcoming. Also work more with Social Secs and Welfare Officer to expand the sober socials we do together <3
  3. Work with captains and boatswain to improve everyone's confidence around the boathouse to take responsibility for maintenance of our boats so we can get the most of our time on the water! This would include assessing what equipment needs to be replaced and develop an action plan to get this stuff. I also want to collaborate more with UH and UL to trailer boats together to races (rip cam head 2021) and to upskill our coxes and launch drivers as we move out of covid times!

I hope you guys will vote for me, I am passionate about RUMSBC and ready to give my all to this role <3
