As Inclusivity and Outreach Officer, I will further the valuable work of the incumbent President and Welfare Officer to make UCLBC a more welcoming sports club that represents UCL in its entirety. To achieve this, I will:

  • Actively organise more “Give it a Go” events throughout September and beyond, creating a specific outreach session catered to those who may not have had the opportunity to row or cox. To ensure the success of these events, I will reach out to the Presidents of a variety of societies to encourage their members along - working with the Media Officer to maximise our turnout. Overall, I hope this will attract more talent to our sport.

  • Identify potential issues regarding the inclusivity of members within the club if they were to arise, reporting this to appropriate Committee members so they can be solved effectively and discreetly. I hope to create sustainable change to make the club more inclusive, affordable, and open in the future. With this goal in mind, I aim to increase our retention rate of novices by ensuring better integration into the club.

  • Organise regular volunteering events to expand our outreach and reinforce UCLBC's reputation. One example may include further work with Fulham Reach Boat Club which regularly works with local schools in Fulham and Hammersmith. Furthermore, work with our local WWT London Wetlands Centre to reinforce understanding and connection to the Thames and the environment.
