I am excited to apply for the position of LUSL captain. I first started playing basketball when I was 10 years old, and I have grown immense love for the sport, and it has had a major impact on my life. Playing this sport for so many years has made me grow a strong passion for the game and for competing.

My leadership skills were recognised when I was made captain of the school basketball team; being team captain  instilled a great sense of responsibility, teamwork, and self-reliance in me, which is why I was motivated to stand for LUSL captain. Fuelled by my passion and equipped with the above qualities, I hope to become LUSL captain.

As LUSL captain, a personal aspiration of mine is to set goals which we will work on together as a team, making sure that we help each other, encouraging a passionate belief in team spirit. Another aspiration of mine is to lift the teams enthusiasm and improve teamwork.

Laura B Ionescu

I'm Laura, a first-year PIR student, your former LUSL captain, hereby running again for captainship.

The two values I would bring into the role would be transparency and reactionary behaviour. Transparency means that I value the importance of honesty and success within women's basketball: having the ability to understand everyone’s wishes and aspirations for the society and consequently acting towards catering to each of your needs. Reactionary behaviour comes as a result of things gone wrong; which is inevitable in an ever-changing, fast-paced environment, ardently striving towards the organisation of an academic year filled with sporting opportunities. I am well accustomed to the need to always adapt, complete certain unforeseeable tasks at the last minute, at uncomfortable times, so that the goal is well achieved.

I have already worked alongside the other team captains and president in order to organise games this year. I am well accustomed to the flexibility, availability and commitment necessary for the role. If elected, I look forward to bettering my skills, further developing the dynamics of our team and leading yet another great season of basketball at UCL :)

Thank you for your trust!

Jane Yin

Hi, I am Jane, I joined the UCLWB last September and became the social secretary of the social team last December. Being a social secretary really built my communication skills, organising skills and corporation skills with my team members and also with other committee members to decide every detail of social events. Furthermore, it gave me an excellent opportunity to get closer and develop a strong relationship with members of the social team. Therefore, this year, if I become the captain of the LUSL team those skills and relationships have been developed while I was the social secretary, could enable me to first, communicate with team members and with other LUSL captains then post information about LUSL games every week and finally attend every training session and go to games with them.  Before joining the UCL, I was a member of my high school team before and this is my fourth year playing basketball. Therefore, I could give them some extra training in the extra session for social players to help them improve their basketball skills and build up good cooperation too so that they could achieve a better performance in the upcoming season.
