Charlotte M Scheideler

Hey everyone! I am Charlotte and I am running for 1st Team Captain.

This year I was the part of the committee as Kit Secretary and played on the 1st Team. I have absolutely loved being part of UCLWB and met some amazing here and would love to use this opportunity to push the club and the team further. I have had many experiences playing basketball in a club, at high school, at basketball camps and even coaching youth-teams. I believe that the knowledge gained from these experiences, as well as the insights I have gained from being on the committee will help me to succeed in this role.

Next year, my main priorities for the team would be to (1) maintain a clear organisation and communication by coordinating all the practices and refs well in advance. (2) Maintain a high-level of communication with the coach to help coordinate or potentially even run the practices, organise & schedule games and ensure that all plays are clearly communicated. (3) Help to build a friendly and supportive team dynamic, where we encourage each other to do our best and continue fighting for any win until the game is over (& ofc will try my best to be everyone's hype woman <3) and host many great team bonding socials. Depending on the number of practice sessions, I would also want to try to incorporate a strength session for the team.

I love this game and this team and would love to help everyone have an amazing season. Thank you so much <3

Georgia I Hogg

As 1s captain my aims are twofold: to win our BUCS league and win the national trophy. (Of course, winning varsity is a given). Team cohesion and preparation are key to this endeavour.

I plan to work closely with our coaches, vice-captain and 2s captains to maximise training – this would be through court time and organising friendlies outside of London with more competitive teams. I would also advocate for UCLWBs participation in Les Parisiennes, a basketball tournament in Paris, for our competitive teams to partake in. I believe team S&C trainings, through the high-performance program at TeamUCL or otherwise, are fundamental to our success.

My previous experience playing and captaining my club team has prepared me well for this role. More importantly, since joining UCLWB 4 years ago, I have been the social sec for two years, and spent this past year as the president. These roles have taught me the value of team bonding off the court, as well as the skills required for administrational tasks.

I believe my experience on committee, working with the union, working with other unis and with the rest of UCLWB makes me the best candidate for this role. Going into my 5th year with UCLWB – I hope to give back to the club that has become my family! LETS GO UC!!!

Eileen V Hahn

I shout a lot, and I do loads of laundry. Who am I? Well, I’m not your mom, but with your help I can be 1st team captain. I understand the responsibility behind what builds a great team: communication, cooperation, hustle and good food (and drinks).

As captain, I will:

  • Make sure all the players voices are heard on and off the court
  • Work on applying for elite sports membership to gain access to a tea trainer and physical therapist through Team UCL
  • Organizing team dinners and working with the committee to make every social, practice, game the best it can be
  • Working with coach Diana to improve teamwork and individual skills

I hope my actions in this past as captain speak louder than my words. I have been part of the UCLWB community for 4 years so far (going onto my PhD at UCL), and during that time I have been Captain for LUSL, Kit Secretary, 1st Team captain as well as acting as pseudo-coach while we did not have a coach by organizing practices and coaching games. I am patient, understanding and very easy to talk to. I also have my level two referee license, so I can really tell a ref if something isn’t right and especially if someone is going to get hurt. This experience and skills I have developed through taking other leadership positions at UCLWB will help me support my team and excel in games (and especially crush Kings).

I’m excited to CRUSH IT next year!!! 1-2-3...UCL!! #BLEEDPURPLE
