Badminton is an amazing sport! All abilities can take part, and it has room for both individual development and a great team-spirit feel. This makes it (in my eyes) the ultimate sport - a fun way to exercise and de-stress with friends while also developing your skills. I’ve played badminton socially for over 10 years and spent 3 of them playing in national tournaments. Badminton continues to bring me joy and as Women’s Team Captain I would love to continue to help others, medics and non-medics alike, find that joy too!

During this last year as Women’s Captain, I have enjoyed organising training sessions and matches. Most of all, I am so proud of the team for their commitment that has led to us being promoted! I would love to be able to build on our progress over the next year and retain (or improve!) our new place in Tier 2. As always, RUMS badminton is at its best when you’re having fun! Next year, I would aim to organise more social events, and increase the integration between team and social badminton. My goal is to put forward a competitive team, but to retain an atmosphere of friendship and fun.

Badminton is an excellent way to unwind and relax away from uni work. Together, let’s make next year even better than the last!
