I’d love to take on the role as welfare officer for RUMS badminton next year because I’ve really enjoyed playing badminton on Wednesday afternoons, meeting new people who also have an interest in the sport, and generally getting involved with this community through sports nights. It’s been a great opportunity to meet other medics, as well as some non-medics too, and interact with older years. I think I’d be fit for the role next year as I’d be committed to the role - whether it’s organising welfare drop-in sessions or simply encouraging more people to get involved with badminton, regardless of background or ability. As badminton is something I really enjoy, I think I’m in a good position to channel this enjoyment into encouraging others to participate as well. With regards to my experience, I was selected to be a first-year academic rep and so I’ve got experience with communicating and coordinating with not only a large number of people, but also a range of people. I’d like to think I’m therefore someone quite friendly and approachable - this is something I can hopefully bring to RUMS badminton as welfare officer. To sum up, I would love for the chance to get stuck in and take on this role as welfare officer because I think it’ll be really rewarding and a nice way to contribute to RUMS badminton.
