Jake Dorman
As a previous First Year Rep and current Head of Operations for the AI society, this society has been a huge part of my life for the last 2 years. As such, I wish to give back to every member of our community by running to be President.
Over the past year, we have developed many connections with other societies, not only at UCL (Neurosoc, CS Soc) and in the UK (Imperial Data Science, MUDSS) but also internationally through Climate Hack.AI. As President, I will seek to further strengthen and make the most of these relationships to expand the reach of our society's events, unlock new possibilities and engage with the national and international AI community. This could include large scale conferences hosted together at multiple universities across London, or more social events such as 48 hour weekend datathons or a black tie ball type event.
Furthermore, I want our best-in-class tutorials and project teams to work hand in hand to create an ML engineer and startup production behemoth. By the end of the year, a new society member with no prior AI experience should be able to finish our tutorial series with a well-rounded knowledge of ML and then gain real experience working in a Project Team on something they are passionate about. As projects progress, we could host events where they can present their research, and help guide interested teams into founding their own startups.
