Miranda Hitchens

As a first year representative, I’ve made up a small part of an accomplished and enthusiastic AI Soc committee. From this, I have had ample chance to contribute to the organization of the society, from outreach tasks to bring speakers, sponsors and cross-university collaboration, to supporting our content output. This blend of responsibilities meant that I saw the many facets we have to offer, and thus I understand the logistical requirements and goals of the society as a whole, so I feel well-prepared to help coordinate these next year.

The range of projects I’ve been involved with reflects the variety that the society holds, which I think has greatly contributed to our success and will be great to take forward. Just this year, we have had an incredible assortment of academic and industry insights, social events, tutorials and competitions, and I would love to facilitate the initiatives of the committee and community through this unique role within the society.

As part of this, I would like to bring wider involvement from the society to grow areas such as content and project teams. Additionally, introducing more social and academic competition-style events alongside the continuation of Climate Hack could be a great way to encourage engagement across the range of machine learning experience levels within our membership.

Overall, I am very grateful for this opportunity and look forward to helping realize the ambitions and potential of this society! Thank you :)
