Yifan Shen

Hi everyone! I’m Yifan, and would love to represent you as Treasurer for Abacus this year. As an avid member for the past 2 years, this has allowed me to experience the ins and outs of what makes Abacus so special in its position as one of the largest cultural societies at UCL. This is also what makes managing the funding of Abacus such a crucial role. Hence being your treasurer, I will maintain this vision and strive to lower ticket costs for events so members can enjoy more of our future nights out :)

I believe my skills gained from previous experience as Treasurer of the Environmental Justice Project and Welfare Officer of the Economics and Finance Society will enable me to thrive in this role. I have demonstrated my proactivity in delivering solutions on issues raised by members and have experiences with budgeting and liaising with the SU, giving me plenty of experience to build on in a role with Abacus.

I am looking forward to what the upcoming year can bring for Abacus as your Treasurer by providing an even bigger budget for events, and most importantly, I aim to provide a fun and welcoming environment for all new and current members :)

Andria N Sze

As a first-year representative, I have witnessed ABACUS’s inclusivity and welcoming atmosphere, which is something I would like to continue to be part of. Personally, I met my best friends through one of the very first ABACUS events, therefore, I am determined to give back to the ABACUS family by fostering more friendships and enhancing their overall university experience.

Having organised events as a first year representative consolidated my skills in collaborating and negotiating with different people. I am well-aware of the responsibilities of being a treasurer. From managing the account, overseeing all expenditure, finding fundings, to being transparent within the committee. I believe these skills are essential to making sure event organising goes coherently possible, and having first hand experience will be favourable when it comes to solving more complex problems.

Being a management science student allows me to use the financial and organisational skills acquired to oversee cash flow and budget strategically and keep track of our account efficiently and effectively if I was elected as next year’s treasurer.

The ABACUS community has made me feel like home in this hustle and bustle city. I promise to give back as much as I have taken from ABACUS and make this place as inclusive and welcoming.

I look forward to working with you all next year!
