Hello! I’m Claudia, studying Geography with Social Data Science and running to be a Volunteering Officer!

After attending the CHAMPIONS Project speaker event, I was inspired to want to contribute to this society and its meaningful cause. I personally feel strongly for the homelessness cause, and believe that everyone should have a safe home they can return to. Having had an internship in a transitional shelter for the homeless in Singapore for several months in 2021, I saw the causes and impacts of homelessness firsthand and empathise greatly with the homeless community. I also volunteer with UCL’s Zero Food Waste to donate food items to homeless shelters near the school campus.

As a Volunteering Officer, I wish to create volunteering opportunities for members to serve the homeless community and work with organisations and shelters to create a positive impact. I believe I can execute this role well with the skills developed from my past experience. Having taken up leadership positions throughout my years of schooling (student councillor, society exco member, faculty committee member), I have communicated with stakeholders including the school management and external organisations, and planned numerous events for my school and community. I was also part of the organising committee for a funfair for migrant workers, in which I developed volunteer management experience. I thus hope to tap on these experiences and my passion to serve to contribute to this society. Thank you!
