Snowsports Club: Trip Secretary

Hi I'm Sophia! Last year I was briefly events social sec ( a role I really enjoyed) before I had a lot of sh*t go down and had to resign :(

I'm back!! Last year's winter trip was a success and UCLs biggest one ever! (A record I hope we'll smash) Part of my role last year was organising the events and musical acts that we had, working with Wasteland to ensure that the trip ran smoothly and was super fun! I really enjoyed this and would love the opportunity to do this role again. 

I have experience in event organisation and am great at tripping!! As trip sec my main goal is to make the trips as affordable and fun as possible- think DJs and great themes! I want snowsports to be as inclusive as possible, broadening our outreach so that as many people join as possible this year! I hope to be able to support our prez in the logistics of organising the trip- communicating with WLT to ensure that everything runs smoothly. On the trip I'll be available 24/7 making sure that everyone is having fun and all the events are going to plan! I'm sure that WLT will mess up somehow during the trip and I'm not afraid to yell at any of them (really nicely!!) to represent the best interests of all the trip goers!!

Safety is of my paramount concern on the trip so I would continue Alasdair's work of having anonymous reporting for anyone who is made to feel uncomfortable as well as ensuring that someone is around 24/7 for any questions or emergencies.

As a long-standing member of our society, I am eager to take on the role of Trip Secretary in order to best serve the interests of our members. I recognize the importance of two key priorities: providing affordable trips for the members; and generating strong revenue to support the club's activities throughout the year. With dedication, experience, and a strategic approach, I am confident that I will deliver on these objectives.

This year has exemplified the importance of trip revenue in the clubs functioning. I will work with the president and treasurer to sustainably capitalize on our USP, the winter trip. Furthermore, I will work with the VP to ensure all trip goers have purchased membership; a significant source of revenue for the club which has been overlooked in previous years.

I will make our trips an inclusive experience for our members and the wider UCL community by utilizing welfare and diversity training. I would work alongside the social media officer to attract a large number of new members through greater social media marketing and welcome fair presence. Finally, I would work with the social secretaries to organize unforgettable social events prior to, and during, the trips to provide great experiences for all our members.
