Keiron Hakimnia

Having been a member of the RUMS Hockey Club, I understand the importance of sports societies in the medical school community. I have personally experienced the sense of thrill and camaraderie that participating in sports can bring and I also know that sports societies provide opportunities for students to develop essential skills like teamwork, communication, and leadership.

Starting next year, students will have the unique chance to represent RUMS in sports that we were unable to offer before, including basketball, squash, swimming, and more. As a candidate for RUMS Sports Officer, I am enthusiastic about leading this expansion and embracing the opportunity to foster passion, and create a new chapter in RUMS sports history!

In this role, I will be responsible for managing RUMS teams, coordinating with TeamUCL, and communicating with the RUMS Sports & Societies VP to handle collaborative affairs. I will be committed to expanding the reach of RUMS sports societies, providing more opportunities for all students, whilst working closely with UCL to ensure that our RUMS teams receive the necessary training and support to excel in their respective sports.

I am excited about the opportunity to run for RUMS Sports Officer and to contribute to the RUMS community in a meaningful way. If elected, I would be committed to ensuring that RUMS sports societies continue to thrive and provide valuable opportunities for students to develop their skills and passions.

Hey everyone, I'm Beatrice, I'm in first year, and I am hoping that I can be your first ever RUMS sports officer!

As a member of both RUMS Boat Club and UCL Lacrosse, I already have a good understanding of the two different frameworks that we are able to participate in, and how they might best be able to interact. We are all already so busy, so I would make sure that participating in UCL sport, under the RUMS badge, would be super easy and convenient, working closely alongside the Sports and Societies VP.

RUMS sport offers not only incredible sporting performances, but an incredible support system as well, and I hope that we can bring this atmosphere with us to TeamUCL. I will be committed to publicising the new opportunities available, such as a wider variety of sports, which will get more people involved, ranging from freshers to final years. It's very important to me that this is as accessible as possible, in terms of time, money and making sure that all our members feel welcome and able to play - I will always push for both RUMS and UCL sport to be more inclusive.

Having participated in competition at BUCS in multiple sports, I understand the valuable experience that these can be, not only from a performance perspective, but also in terms of community. I would love to have the chance to bring this to more RUMS members, building upon the amazing success that we had at Varsity!
