I've been a part of the MODO committee this past year as a Marketing executive and find the scope for all of the events we put on are really interesting and suited for everyone's taste. I think going into next year it would be amazing to create a closer community within MODO, especially for anyone interested in going into photography, modelling, writing or production there are so many opportunities to gain from meeting one another. I'd love to be a part of bringing a friendly atmosphere to the society and maintaining this throughout with accessible socials and by bringing different ideas to the table for our bigger events. The gala and the fashion show were both amazing events this year, and I'd love to be a part of the organisation of similar things in the future! I'm super excited for getting more involved this next year, as well getting lots of new people interested and part of the society.

Hey, I’m Mihika and I’m standing to be MODO’s Social Secretary :)

I’d like to continue upholding our society’s inclusive, empowering and multi-faceted spirit. MODO’s community was game-changing for me- making me confident, experimenting new styles, and meeting the loveliest people.

To sustain this ‘societal society’ aspect, I aim to build upon traditions while expanding the range of social events, factoring schedules and affordability. Here’s some of my ideas:

  • Friendly competition: Teams create outfits from a thrifting trip, which are presented in a mini-fashion show
  • Informal event: Designers become models, and models become designers after our annual fashion show
  • Photo-walks which incorporate the chance for models, designers, make-up artists and stylists to collaborate, building connections (and portfolios!)

Leadership positions have strengthened my skills to plan and execute events: managing competitions with 600 participants and 21 events, social campaigns raising £500 for cancer relief, and mentorship initiatives. Besides organisation and consistent law-student work-ethic, my experience working in teams for youth-platforms and inter-city committees have grown my love for interacting and collaborating with others.

MODO has allowed me to develop a second family at UCL, through outlets like the fashion show and magazine’s creation, and I’m thrilled to have the opportunity to continue levelling-up this atmosphere for members. A drink (alcoholic/not) is on me! ;D
