As treasurer for the society in the past 2 years, I'm sure I can coordinate well with other committee to organise activities, as well as taking care the welfare of fellow members.
Hi I’m Virginia – a first year Biomedical Sciences student.
I’m sure I wasn’t the only person who felt incredibly let down by the last year. Both socially and academically, the irritation of everything being online or cancelled was overwhelming; especially on the biomed course. The lack of social events and face to face opportunities is the main issue most of my fellow course mates and ‘freshers’ are concerned with and, under the title of Welfare Officer of this society, I believe I have what it takes to forefront your ideas and queries and make a positive change for us next year.
I thoroughly enjoyed being part of the LSS over this last year. Options were limited for various reasons we all know, so the few social events which followed through were very uplifting – I met people on my course I didn’t even know existed hahaha. That being said, we are the biggest scientific society in UCL, and I believe we have far greater potential to expand and exceed next academic year. With the responsibility of welfare officer, I will ensure everyone feels welcomed and settled into their course; enforce more face-to-face talks with UCL leadership teams; implement whole society group talks (on anything interesting to you!) and ensure each voice is heard.
Hope to see you next year x
