Kinesis Magazine: Web Editor

Hey guys, I’m Miranda and I’m running for web editor! I decided to run because I feel that the digital form of Kinesis has a lot of potential, as it operates with very different constraints to the traditional print magazine. As such, I would love to work with the managing editor Emma, taking on a wider variety of creative projects in the coming year. I have experience producing/editing web content for AI soc’s content initiative, which has given me a good blueprint for the responsibilities I will take on as web editor.

Beyond the success of Issue 9, I think that the special issue and the podcast have been really fun ways to approach media surrounding science, as well as unique creative challenge for our talented writers and artists. Expanding the online presence of Kinesis will further allow us to encompass the scope of and nurture the eclectic and educational content the community has to offer, and introducing new/novel formats and styles of content will take advantage of the versatility of Kinesis overall. 

Additionally, I hope that by taking the web aspect forward, I can engage more with this lovely community that has been a highlight of my first year at UCL. I have greatly enjoyed both writing and editing for issues 9, 9.5 and 10 and look forward to contributing more in future years!

Hi, my name is Marie! I'm a third-year Cell Biology student who has found Kinesis a very nice way to express myself and continue to enjoy writing. Over the past years at UCL, my passion for writing has only grown. Therefore, I want to become more involved in the programmes that have allowed this. For my last year at UCL, it would be absolutely lovely to be part of the committee and learn new things along the way. A web editor sounds like a perfect role for me, where I can keep up to date on what you are all writing about and get to know more about what is required to publish the magazine. I would also make sure to take any comments on the website into consideration to make changes according to what the society wants.
