Like many, I joined UCL during the pandemic. Unsure and desperately craving interaction with others, I got involved with UCL’s arts culture and societies. Now Jazz Society has become one of the defining experiences of my time here. It has introduced me to such a wide variety of people and musicians here who have been so welcoming and made every week worth it.

The Jazz Society had such a dedicated committee last year which inspired me to help out with the society as much as I can. This year in my role as media officer, I have become much more familiar with the inner workings and scheduling of the society. Communicating with every member in the committee to organise the promotion of their activities has also helped me to understand how the other events are run. I have experience performing contracted gigs for the society where I have learnt more about the administerial work that goes on behind the scenes in the way Jazz society represents itself.

I would love to continue the warm and welcoming society that I have come to love. My first year was immensely improved by having the opportunity to play with other incredible musicians and simply get better at jazz. I would like to provide that same opportunity and space to get new talent in to the society and create more music with everyone.

Hello! I've really loved being in the jazz society, the Jazz Around the World concert was one of my favourite memories from the past year. The people are amazing, the music is great and it's overall such a fun society to be a part of. I really want to see this society thrive and grow, which is why I'm running for president :D

I'm part of the fabulous jazz choir and I'll be joining the jazz band next term (I'm a flutist) so I'll be able to provide a bridge for communication and collaboration between our two big groups!

Experience-wise, I've led a few projects these past few years, being the general secretary for the Taekwondo society, head of advocacy for a charity project, head of marketing for a student-led company, and a student ambassador for Sustainable UCL. These projects have provided me with a lot of experience when it comes to organising groups of people and hosting events, skills which should be pretty useful when it comes to running a society.

That's all from me, have a lovely day and please vote for me ^o^
