International Relations Society: Circum Mundum Editor-in-Chief

I would love to take on the role as our news outlet's editor-in-chief, because it is important to keep our student-led Circum Mundum running! I am an editor and social media officer at the interdisciplinary magazine Res Publica, and a News Columnist for the Diplomacy Review of UCL's Diplomacy Society. These experiences have given me the necessary skills   to take on this role should you wish for it. 

The previous editors have put a lot of work into it and I intend to do the same. I would also like to bring about a more even split of the editing process, so that an active and engaged team works together to share the work load. Building on the previous collaboration with Res Publica, I would also expand partnerships with other student-led magazines at UCL and beyond. We can work on shared issues, combine magazine launches and learn from each other's areas of expertise.

My name is Riya Mohan & I'm studying MSc International Relations of the Americas at UCL. My interest in politics & international affairs together with my past experience of working as an editor, writer, and founder of a publishing organization 'The Loose Thread Magazine', propels me to stand for the position of Circum Mundum Editor-in-chief. 

Being born and brought up in the political hub, Delhi, where political discourses, rallies, and protests have been part of the everyday panorama, I could hardly avoid writing about it. While the child in me grabbed RobinAge from the local markets, a much more informed adult began reading Frontline, El País, El Mundo, and the New York Times. 

Editorial has therefore not only been my passion for many years, but also my profession. And perhaps, that is the reason why I have always felt the need to do justice to the research, writing, and editing that I conduct. I have been a UN Women UK Delegate for CSW 66 and have taken up various positions including English Editor for Project Dhaara at Itisaras, Spanish Language Editor for LSR College Magazine, Team Head for the annual conference on 'Conflict Literature’, Opinion Editor and Panelist at IndianFolk, Research & Development Intern at BYS Sewa Sansthan, Spanish Content Writer at Informes de Expertos, and Spanish-English Translator for UTEL Universidad, a Mexican university.

Hello!

I am a 2nd Year Politics and International Relations student who would love to be your Circum Mundum Editor-in-Chief for next year! I have been a writer for the ‘International Public Policy Review’ blog for the past year and a half, and I am extremely excited to move into more of a role of an editor. I believe that my degree especially lends itself to effective understanding of how the ideas of our members can be best conveyed. I am familiar with layout, organization, and I believe that these elements will help Circum Mundum expand further. My vision would involve spurring people who tend to shy away from politics towards our articles, hopefully leading them to be more politically aware. I also plan to network with leading journalists, scholars in the UK so that we can have a better understanding of current affairs through multiple perspectives, as that is my priority.
