Hey everyone, I’m Radha and I study History, Politics and Economics and I’m running to be Head of Socials!
Having family in the wedding events business, I know the chaos that it takes to plan events like Jashn and Dhamaal. Alongside, putting charity events in school as a prefect, this experience in the business has given me insight into the logistics of planning events as well as organisation and communication skills which would enable me to co-ordinate the social events that Indian society is known for as well as new ones.
Apart from the bigger socials, I’d want to organise smaller socials especially in collaboration with other societies and universities given that we’re in London, where people can continue to meet new people. Indian society was a massive part of my year and I’d love to carry that forward for new and existing members from any background.
A society can’t run without its members, which is why I think its so important that the events are what members want, so as Head of Socials I really want to listen and incorporate the suggestions of our members when planning events.
Working in acting and theatre, means I really value working in a team, so would love to be part of a tight-knit committee, running socials but also just making sure the society continues to be supportive and fun.
With your vote, I want to continue UCL Indian Society’s history of incredible social events of all kinds and honestly just make sure that everyone has the best time!
Hey guys,
I’d love to become Head of socials to see all of your lovely faces and have a great time at the events I will help organise. Building on the amazing work from this year, I would love to maintain the great social dynamic that this society already has whilst adding a few extra features to ensure that we all have a good time.
Through my numerous part time jobs I have had lots of experience in project management and being the designated family party planner, I have a good idea about how things may be run and carried out well. As a fun person and a society member like you all, I have experienced the events throughout this past year, which have been incredible, However, I also understand what I would like to change and how I would go about it. For example, I’ve heard complaints regarding the open bar at this year’s Jashn and If I was head of socials, I would combat this with increasing popular and flowing drinks on tables to decrease foot traffic at the bar, such as Prosecco, wines and possible bespoke cocktails that cater to many.
I have many connections with a wide range of committee members from different universities, which will open us up for more collaborations and more events.
I hope you’ll consider me as your head of socials and trust me to do a good job.
Hello, my name is Karthig. Having been Media Officer for many societies this year, I have experience in working in a committee and promoting socials. As Head of Socials, I plan to engage with more freshers and utilise my event planning experience to intelligently organise events involving freshers and new society members to interact with each other, beyond just families. Such events include Karaoke/Open Mic night, Movie Night, Pub Crawl, Bowling Night etc. I am very outgoing and approachable. I want to ensure our socials accommodate everyones’ needs from pub crawls for alcohol enthusiasts to picnic at Primrose Hill or beach day for those who like a chilled environment. I am very passionate about events organisation especially, as I have some experience both as events worker and as a planner. One of my greatest skills is hard work and dedication- I have experience in both sorting out event details and venues, and communicating with people to ensure smooth running. My experience in media gives me marketing skills to promote our events to as many people and I also aim to get non-Indians around UCL to enjoy our socials. Overall, I want to raise awareness of India throughout UCL through organising fun events and nurture a growing togetherness amongst the many interested in Indian culture and its various manifestations, and celebrate a shared heritage rooted in a rich community.
