Dutch and Flemish Society: Cultural Counsellor

Hi everyone!

My name is Alexander (Sasha) and I am standing for the position of the Cultural Counsellor of the Dutch and Flemish Society for 2022-3 Academic Year. 

As a Dutch student at UCL, I have re-established the Society this Academic Year and became its President. The Society has started functioning successfully in late Winter this year. This year, we have organised a few events with other societies, including King's Day and Dutch Bar Outing.

Since February, I have secured partnerships with UCL SSEES, Baking and German Societies, established cooperation with Flanders House in London - all for the prosperity and benefit of the Dutch and Flemish Society!

As a person who will be spending the next Academic Year predominantly in the Netherlands, I am eager to deliver current trends in life and culture of the Dutch capital with our Society at UCL. Particularly, I am planning on:

• sharing gastronomical trends - a perfect addition for events with Baking Society;
• discussing socio-economic and political trends;
• providing first-person experience of youth's life in the Low Countries;
• continuing developing long-lasting partnerships with representatives of the Low Countries and many more!

Alongside the aforementioned, I will be the primary UCL representative in the Netherlands.
