Charlotte J Patient

Hi,

I'm Charlotte and I would love to be your trip sec for next year!

  • Trips are definitely one of the best parts of this society, and I've always had an amazing time on them - so I want to run for Trip Sec this year to provide this to both new and experienced climbers and mountaineers.
  • Variety in trips is key - so I want to ensure that there is a trip for everyone whether you prefer winter mountaineering or sport climbing in the sun (or in my case, bouldering :) ).
  • I've worked with my department society to set up events, and although this is much smaller than planning trips, I've had great experience with organisation and working within a committee.

If you have any questions or requests, please let me know!

Alessandra T Quigley

I'm Alessandra. I travel, and I eat. Trip sec is the only position I ran for, because this is what I do. Since 2020, I've been to 13 countries, making me an expert in navigating the changing patchwork of travel regulations. I've also held committee positions on 5 societies, so I can deal with the union's red tape.

I have 3 main goals as trip sec:

  1. Take us off the beaten path. Spain and Italy are wonderful, and the club will and should continue climbing there, but we can also venture farther afield. I've been talking with Clara and Alp about arranging a trip to Geyikbayiri, Turkey. Beyond being a fantastic climbing destination for all levels, it's also an amazing cultural and culinary destination. This brings me to…
  2. Feed us like the hungry (and discerning) climbers we are. As anyone who knows me can attest, I feed people like an Italian grandma. I will place a higher emphasis on food on all trips, so everyone can find something tasty and filling to eat.
  3. Organize great trips at low cost. I'll let the numbers speak for themselves: I spent 5 days in Morocco for £115, 4 in Georgia for £120, and 3 in Romania for £101, all inclusive. I'll use this bargain-hunting experience to get us affordable and fun trips.

While I've been climbing for almost 3 months less than James, this position isn't about sending a 7b. It's about working with the president (a very experienced climber) to facilitate trips that are great both on and off the wall. In trip planning, I am unmatched.
