Rachel Gorton

Hi everyone! My name is Rachel and this has been my first year in cheer and I have loved it! I would love to be welfare officer next year to make sure cheer is a happy and fun environment for everyone and to help raise awareness for important issues. Cheer can be a stressful environment so I hope to be a point of contact for anyone who is struggling :)

Anna Harrison-Austin

Hi everyone! I'm Anna and I'm currently a member of Strike and a first year Law Student.

I have absolutely loved being part of Lightning this year and am already looking forward to the next season. Next year, I would love to have a bigger role within the club, being part of committee, and so I would love to be welfare officer.

You may recognise me from the AGM, in which I ran for publicity officer. Although I was not successful in that role (Hedy is going to be amazing and a lot better suited to the role!), I would love to run for welfare officer.

One of the strongest aspects of the club, in my opinion, is the openness and welcoming environment which resinates throughout the club. In this role, I would love to capitalise on this, as well as improving some of the more stressful aspects, especially in relation to try-outs.

This year, I would really like to continue the work started this year, especially through the thought-provoking talks held, in discussing and sharing thoughts and experiences within cheer, which undoubtedly is an extremely tough sport.

I would like to think I am very approachable and would always love to listen and help fellow cheerleaders through both the highs and lows that come with this sport. I am also keen to liaise with the university so that I can provide the best advice and direction possible.

Thank you very much for the opportunity to run for this position and I look forward to seeing you all next year! x
